You’ve had a baby! Regardless of your place of birth, home visits by a midwife positively impact your experience of the early days and weeks after your baby’s birth.
My care philosophy during the postnatal period is to holistically support mum and baby as a unit, the motherbaby dyad. I see the first 6 weeks of your baby’s life as the ‘fourth trimester’. This is a time for lots of skin-to-skin contact, rest and nourishment and reduced stimulation. Your baby has been a fully conscious, feeling, sensing being for many months and needs some time to slowly adapt to the big open spaces outside of your womb. You need time, space and support to gently ease into your new reality as a mum, letting go of all other responsibilities and outside pressures.
Together we will monitor breastfeeding, baby’s growth, and how to naturally prevent and ease gas and colic’s. You will learn baby massage, bucket bathing, understand baby’s ques, and tips and tricks to sooth your baby. We will care for your perineum as needed, tackle breasting issues like engorgement or plugged ducts, acknowledge your fears, feelings, challenges and inspirations! I can help you set up your space and give ideas about choosing baby products and diapering.
Other areas include: Sex after baby, choosing a birth control method, elimination communication and much more!
I advocate for delayed vaccinations, co-sleeping, baby wearing and self-nurturing!
We can discuss postnatal care packages and I am also available for one time visits with a specific intention for example baby massage and bath.
“I’m very grateful that I met Red and I enjoyed and appreciated her postnatal visits a lot! She helped and supported me during the first months; I don’t know what I would have done without her! She has a great personality and an excellent knowledge about babies, breastfeeding and all other related topics. I love her nature-based approach and I can fully recommend her to all other mums-to-be! I love your personality Red, you are always calm and relaxed, friendly and open, not stressed or under time pressure. I love that you have a natural-based approach and that you have a great knowledge of health in general. I appreciate a lot all the advice you gave me, may it be a recommendation for breastfeeding, coconut oil, craniosacral therapy or baby massage”. ~Yvonne
